S. 1736 — Improving Training for School Food Service Workers Act of 2025

This section requires training programs for local food service personnel funded under state administrative expense grants for child nutrition programs (i.e., National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and related programs serving over 50 million children annually) to (1) be scheduled during regular paid working hours, offered in-person if appropriate, incorporate experiential learning, and provided at no cost to personnel; or (2) if scheduled outside regular paid hours, include advance notice of necessity, consultation with personnel for minimal disruption, compensation at the regular rate (including overtime), and no penalties for non-attendance. The section further specifies that these requirements do not supersede other federal, state, or local employment laws.
