S. 1752 — EdCOPS Act of 2025

This section establishes the Public Safety Officer Education Assistance Program to provide financial assistance for higher education programs to eligible public safety officers—who must have served at least 8 years with a single employer and commit to 4 additional years of service—or their children (to whom eligibility may be transferred), with benefits computed under 38 U.S.C. §3532, up to 45 months of full-time education (or proportional part-time equivalent), and limited for children to before age 27. The Attorney General administers applications (with approval required unless ineligibility criteria are met), prioritizes aid via a financial need-based sliding scale, and may discontinue assistance for failure to maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined in Higher Education Act §484(c) (20 U.S.C. §1091(c)). The section authorizes appropriations of such sums as necessary.
