S. 1777 — Joshua Tree National Park Expansion Act

This section expands the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park to include approximately 20,149 acres of land generally depicted on the map entitled “Joshua Tree National Park Proposed Boundary Addition,” numbered 156/193,676, and dated June 2024; transfers administrative jurisdiction over that land from the Bureau of Land Management to the National Park Service; and authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to acquire land or interests in land within the park boundary by donation, purchase from a willing seller, exchange, or transfer (with land owned by the State of California or its political subdivisions limited to acquisition by donation or exchange).

This section makes a technical correction to Section 1433(a) of the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act (Public Law 116-9) by striking “156/149,375” each place it appears and inserting “156/149,375A”. (Section 1433 designates lands in Utah as the San Rafael Swell Recreation Area and Wilderness.)

This section redesignates the Cottonwood Visitor Center at Joshua Tree National Park—or any successor—as the Dianne Feinstein Visitor Center and deems any references in U.S. laws, maps, regulations, or records to the former name as references to the new name.
