S. 2242 — Counternarcotics Enhancement Act

This section directs the head of each intelligence community (IC) element, not later than 60 days after enactment, to submit to the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) (1) a description and assessment of any direct relationships with Mexican government elements, including counterintelligence risks; (2) a strategy to enhance counternarcotics cooperation and coordination with those elements; and (3) recommendations and required resources to implement the strategy. It further directs the DNI, not later than 180 days after enactment, to submit to the congressional intelligence committees the IC elements' submissions and an unclassified action plan (with possible classified annex) to enhance counternarcotics collaboration, coordination, and cooperation with the Government of Mexico, including recommendations for changes in authorities or resources for FY2026.
