“A bill to provide for the publication by the Secretary of Health and Human Services of physical activity recommendations for Americans.”
No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to publish a report providing physical activity recommendations for the U.S. public—based on current evidence-based scientific and medical knowledge, including for subgroups such as children and individuals with disabilities—by December 31, 2029, and every 10 years thereafter, for consideration by the general public and relevant federal health programs. It further requires HHS to publish an updated report on evidence-based practices five years after the initial report and every 10 years thereafter, which may focus on specific groups or issues. Federal agencies proposing differing physical activity recommendations must consider these reports; however, the section does not limit federal biomedical research or communication of scientific findings and clarifies that no physical fitness standards established under the section are binding on individuals.
