S. 2318 — Streamlining American Manufacturing Strategy Act

This section revises the duties of the Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) under the Manufacturing USA Program— which supports a nationwide network of Manufacturing USA institutes to advance U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, innovation, and workforce development—by requiring updates to the program's strategic plan not less frequently than once every 4 years (from every 3 years) and aligned with the planning cycle for updates to the National Strategy for Advanced Manufacturing. (Thus, the program's priorities will better reflect those of the national strategy developed by the Office of Science and Technology Policy and interagency partners.)
