S. 2369 — Francis G. Newlands Memorial Removal Act

This section directs the Secretary of the Interior to remove from the memorial fountain at Chevy Chase Circle, Connecticut Avenue and Western Avenue NW, in the District of Columbia—(1) a brass plaque bearing the name “Senator Francis G. Newlands” from the grounds; (2) a stone, tablet-like projection bearing the name “Francis Griffith Newlands” and a related inscription from the south end of the fountain’s face; and (3) the name “Newlands” carved into the upper face of the fountain’s coping stones (or permanently conceal it)—and to offer the removed items to Newlands’s descendants for 60 days, after which they become National Park Service property accessioned into the Rock Creek Park museum collection.
