S. 2472 — Department of Defense PFAS Discharge Prevention Act

This section directs the Secretary of Defense, not later than one year after enactment, to request modifications to each stormwater discharge permit under CWA section 402(p) applicable to Department of Defense facilities (unless the permit already includes the required elements) to mandate (1) monitoring of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) discharges not less frequently than quarterly and (2) implementation of best management practices or control technologies to reduce such discharges consistent with the Clean Water Act. The section further requires that, of funds authorized for DoD PFAS remediation efforts, at least 1% be obligated or expended annually for these monitoring and reduction activities.
