No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section renames the Reserve Officers Association of the United States as the Reserve Organization of America and revises its federal charter in chapter 1901 of Title 36, U.S. Code, to include standard provisions for federally chartered nonprofit corporations (i.e., perpetual existence; purposes of supporting U.S. military policy for national security; membership, governance, powers, and headquarters as specified in its constitution and bylaws; exclusive rights to name, seals, emblems, and badges; restrictions on profit-making, stock issuance, political activities, income distribution, and loans to officers; record-keeping and inspection requirements; service of process; and liability for acts of officers and agents). It also (1) updates the chapter analysis for Title 36 to reflect the new name and (2) deems any references to the prior name in federal laws, regulations, documents, or records as references to the Reserve Organization of America.
