S. 2531 — Uterine Fibroid Intervention and Gynecological Health Treatment Act of 2025

This section directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to (1) conduct or support research on increasing early detection of, and intervention for, uterine fibroids and (2) formulate evidence-based or evidence-informed strategies, based on such research and other relevant information, to increase early detection in health care settings. The Secretary must finalize these strategies as expeditiously as possible to make them available to grantees under section 3.

This section authorizes the Secretary to award grants to states for programs to increase early detection of, and intervention for, uterine fibroids, including development and implementation of public awareness and education campaigns. Grant funds may be used for (1) screening procedures, including advanced gynecological imaging and payment for such procedures; (2) patient navigation services; (3) implementation of evidence-based or evidence-informed strategies formulated under section 2(a)(2); and (4) facilitating access to health care settings.

This section authorizes the Secretary to award grants to states for research, which may include clinical trials, related to (1) disparities in pain control and management in uterine fibroid surgical treatment; or (2) Asherman’s Syndrome (i.e., uterine scarring), intrauterine adhesions, and other intrauterine conditions as determined appropriate by the Secretary.

This section directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to submit to Congress, and make publicly available on the Department of Health and Human Services website, not later than two years after the initial award of grants under sections 2 or 3 and every two years thereafter, (1) a report summarizing the findings and results of programs and activities funded through grants awarded under this Act; and (2) a report outlining research developments and findings related to (A) disparities in pain control and management in uterine fibroid surgical treatment, and (B) Asherman’s Syndrome, intrauterine adhesions, and other intrauterine conditions as the Secretary determines appropriate.
