S. 2553 — Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act

This section establishes new grounds for inadmissibility under INA §212(a)(2)(J) and deportability under INA §237(a)(2)(G) for driving while intoxicated or impaired (DWI) offenses. It makes inadmissible any alien convicted of, who admits having committed, or who admits committing acts constituting the essential elements of a DWI offense (including driving under the influence of or impaired by alcohol or drugs, as defined by the relevant jurisdiction's law), regardless of whether classified as a misdemeanor or felony; it makes deportable any alien convicted of such an offense on the same terms.
