S. 2644 — Camden National Battlefield Park Study Act

This section directs the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study (SRS) of the Camden Battlefield study area—consisting of the site of the August 16, 1780, Battle of Camden and related Revolutionary War resources in South Carolina, and Historic Camden—to (1) evaluate its national significance; (2) determine suitability and feasibility for designation as a National Park System unit, to be known as Camden National Battlefield Park; (3) identify protection and interpretation methods involving the National Park Service, other federal entities, state or local governments, or private and nonprofit organizations; (4) assess viability of local partnership management models; and (5) estimate federal costs for development, interpretation, operations, and maintenance. The study, conducted in accordance with 54 U.S.C. §100507 (the National Park Service's standard SRS process for potential park units), must include consultation with interested parties, with a report containing results and recommendations submitted to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the House Committee on Natural Resources not later than three years after funds are made available.
