S. 2788 — Safety Grant Consistency Act

This section prohibits the Secretary of Transportation from establishing new performance measures or regulatory or program requirements for highway safety grant programs under 23 U.S.C. §§402 (state and community highway safety grants) and 405 (certain safety incentive grants for impaired driving, distracted driving, etc.) that were not in effect before enactment of this Act and requires the Secretary to ease or eliminate any such requirements not explicitly authorized or required by an Act of Congress. (Thus, these changes limit the Department of Transportation's ability to impose additional administrative burdens on states receiving these grants.)
