S. 2810 — Retirement Freedom Act

This section allows individuals otherwise entitled to Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) benefits to elect to opt out of such entitlement, in a form and manner specified by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Individuals who opt out (1) may subsequently end the election and reenroll without penalty, per a Secretary-determined process; (2) are not required to opt out of Social Security benefits under title II of the Social Security Act; and (3) are not required to repay any Part A payments received prior to opting out.
