S. 2896 — STARS Act

This section directs the Secretary of the Interior to (1) designate September 17, 2026, as an entrance-fee-free date for all units of the National Park System and National Wildlife Refuge System that charge entrance fees and (2) waive standard amenity recreation fees on that date for all sites managed by the Bureau of Land Management or Bureau of Reclamation that charge such fees; and directs the Secretary of Agriculture to waive standard amenity recreation fees on that date for all Forest Service sites that charge such fees. (Thus, in honor of the U.S. semiquincentennial, visitors receive free admission and access to standard amenities—i.e., developed day-use facilities such as picnic areas—on those federal recreational lands and waters on September 17, 2026.)
