This section revises local educational agency requirements for military recruiter access to secondary schools, including student information otherwise protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Specifically, it (1) requires the same campus access for military recruiters seeking students at least 17 years of age as provided to prospective employers, institutions of higher education, or other recruiters; (2) requires facilitation, upon recruiter request, of at least four in-person recruitment events per academic year across different grading periods; and (3) requires provision to recruiters of student names, academic grades, addresses, school-provided email addresses, and telephone/mobile phone listings within 60 days of the academic year start and thereafter within 30 days of a request, notwithstanding FERPA restrictions (20 U.S.C. 1232g(a)(5)).
