S. 3096 — Beef Labeling Clarity Act

This section directs the Secretary of Agriculture to promulgate regulations not later than 180 days after enactment for beef and beef food products inspected under the Federal Meat Inspection Act that (1) eliminate the label “Product of U.S.A.”; and (2) authorize voluntary use of three new labels. Those labels are: “Processed in U.S.A.” (i.e., the product undergoes substantial transformation in a U.S. facility under the act); “Raised and Processed in U.S.A.” (i.e., the source animal is raised in the U.S. for at least 100 days before processing in such a facility); and “Born, Raised, and Processed in U.S.A.” (i.e., the source animal is born, raised, and processed in the U.S.).
