S. 3118 — Respect the Chief Act of 2025

This section requires the Secretary of Defense to submit reports to the President and congressional defense committees certifying compliance with requirements to update command and control leadership boards across the Department of Defense. The reports consist of (1) an initial report not later than January 31, 2026, covering compliance during the preceding calendar year; and (2) subsequent reports not later than 120 days after inauguration of a new President or confirmation of a new Secretary of Defense, certifying that all such boards reflect the current Commander-in-Chief and applicable leadership changes.
