S. 3142 — I–VETS Act

This section directs the Secretary of Homeland Security, upon an alien's application for an immigration benefit or placement in an immigration enforcement proceeding, to determine whether the alien is serving or has served as a member of (1) a regular or reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty or (2) a reserve component of the Armed Forces in active status and, if so, to annotate the alien's DHS immigration and naturalization records to reflect such membership and track outcomes for such aliens. This section prohibits the use of information gathered under these requirements for removing an alien from the United States.
