S. 3314 — Written Informed Consent Act

This section directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to update Veterans Health Administration Directive 1005, dated May 13, 2020, and titled “Informed Consent for Long-Term Opioid Therapy for Pain,” to apply to antipsychotics, stimulants, antidepressants, anxiolytics, and narcotics. (Thus, VA providers must obtain informed consent from patients prior to prescribing these medications long-term, similar to requirements for opioids.)
