“A bill to expand the telescreening mammography pilot program of the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.”
No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section converts the telescreening mammography pilot program for the Department of Veterans Affairs—established under section 102 of the Making Advances in Mammography and Medical Options for Veterans Act (PL 117-135)—into a permanent program by striking all references to "pilot," eliminating prior scope limitations, and extending the reporting deadline on implementation to May 1, 2027 (from one year after pilot conclusion). The section further requires the VA, not later than two years after enactment, to offer at least one of the following mammography programs in each state and Puerto Rico: (1) the telescreening program under amended section 102; (2) a full-service mammography program within a VA facility; or (3) a mobile mammography program of the VA. It requires such programs to be accessible to veterans with paralysis, spinal cord injury or disorder, or another disability, consistent with applicable accessibility standards. Finally, the section clarifies that it does not limit VA expansion of telescreening mammography to additional facilities.
