S. 3581 — No Settlements for January 6 Law Enforcement Assaulters Act

This section defines a covered individual as one convicted of assaulting a law enforcement officer—including under 18 U.S.C. § 111 (assaulting federal officers) or D.C. Official Code § 22-405—in connection with the January 6, 2021, events at or near the Capitol. It prohibits the obligation or expenditure of federal funds, including from the Judgment Fund (31 U.S.C. § 1304), for any legal settlement to such an individual if the claims arise from alleged harm suffered during those events or from related prosecution.
