S. 3586 — AI for Mainstreet Act

This section requires Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs)—which provide management, technical, and training assistance to small businesses—to assist small business concerns in evaluating artificial intelligence (AI) for operations, including by providing information, guidance, and training on best practices (e.g., data protection, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance) and conducting outreach. (1) It adds these AI-related activities as a new authorized SBDC service under Section 21(c)(3) of the Small Business Act; (2) defines "artificial intelligence" in Section 3 of the Small Business Act by reference to the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Act of 2020 (15 U.S.C. 9401); and (3) authorizes no additional funds.
