S. 3627 — Pregnant Students’ Rights Act

This section requires each institution of higher education participating in title IV programs to disseminate information to prospective and enrolled students (including those attending or planning to attend less than full time) on the rights of, and resources and accommodations for, pregnant students to carry a baby to term. The required information includes a list of campus and community resources for carrying a pregnancy to term and caring for the baby after birth, details on available accommodations, and instructions for filing complaints with the Department of Education or the institution alleging title IX violations related to a student’s decision to carry a baby to term. Dissemination must occur via an annual email to each enrolled student and through student handbooks, orientations, student health or counseling centers, and the institution’s publicly available website.
