S. 3687 — Inspectors General Independence Act

This section prohibits the President from nominating an individual to serve as an Inspector General if the individual is serving as a political appointee, as defined in section 9803, as of the nomination date or has previously served as a political appointee under that President. The section specifies that the Inspector General position is not considered a political appointee for purposes of this prohibition.
