S. 3769 — kʷaxʷad tiiɫ ʔiišədčəɫ Act of 2026

This section amends the Puyallup Tribe of Indians Settlement Act of 1989 (P.L. 101-41) by (1) authorizing the Puyallup Tribe to withdraw amounts from the permanent trust fund for tribal members pursuant to a management plan approved by the Secretary of the Interior under the American Indian Trust Fund Management Reform Act of 1994 (i.e., allowing the Tribe to assume management responsibility for the fund); and (2) adding a savings provision clarifying that nothing in the Act prevents the United States from engaging with the Tribe under any federal law enacted after October 25, 1989, on the same basis as other federally recognized Indian tribes.
