S. 3859 — A bill to amend the Catawba Indian Tribe of South Carolina Land Claims Settlement Act of 1993 with respect to future membership in the Catawba Indian Nation.

This section eliminates the requirement that individuals enrolling as members of the Catawba Indian Nation must have maintained political relations with the tribe, in addition to being a lineal descendant of a person on the final base membership roll under the Catawba Indian Tribe of South Carolina Land Claims Settlement Act of 1993. (Thus, tribal enrollment criteria are expanded beyond those maintaining continuous political relations.)
