S. 3899 — Maverick Act

This section authorizes the Secretary of the Navy to transfer, at no cost to the United States, all right, title, and interest in one or more F-14 Tomcat aircraft in the custody of the Department of the Navy or Department of Defense to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center Commission in Huntsville, Alabama, on terms the Secretary deems appropriate (e.g., demilitarization, indemnification, restrictions on further disposition or use), with the Commission bearing all costs of conveyance, compliance, operation, and maintenance. The Secretary may also authorize the Commission to enter agreements with qualified nonprofit organizations to restore and operate the transferred aircraft for public display, airshows, and commemorative events preserving naval aviation heritage.
