S. 4029 — A bill to reinforce the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 by establishing a limitations period of 10 years for antibribery offenses, and for other purposes.

This section establishes a 10-year statute of limitations (from 5 years under 18 U.S.C. 3282(a)) for offenses under the anti-bribery provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)—which prohibit U.S. issuers, domestic concerns, and certain other persons from corruptly paying foreign officials to obtain or retain business (15 U.S.C. 78dd-1, 78dd-2, 78dd-3)—notwithstanding 18 U.S.C. 3282(a). The extended limitations period (1) applies only to offenses committed after the date five years before enactment and (2) sunsets eight years after enactment.
