S. 4076 — Removing Medicare Mental Health Inpatient Limitations Act of 2026

This section eliminates the 190-day lifetime limit on Medicare Part A coverage of inpatient psychiatric hospital services (excluding inpatient hospital or critical access hospital services under 1812(a)(1), which are subject to spell-of-illness day limits). (Thus, such services become eligible for coverage under Medicare Part A's general spell-of-illness limits, up to 150 days minus coinsurance days from prior spells.) The amendments apply to services furnished on or after January 1, 2027.
