S. 4179 — AI/AN CAPTA

This section amends the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) as follows: (1) revises criteria for equitable distribution of assistance under CAPTA subchapters I and III (i.e., state grants for child abuse prevention and treatment) to include Indian Tribes and Tribal organizations alongside States (previously States only), geographic areas of the Nation, and rural and urban areas; and (2) revises allotments under CAPTA prevention grants (Section 203) to provide 5% of amounts appropriated under Section 209 to Indian Tribes and Tribal organizations (from 1%) and 1% to migrant programs, while updating cross-references from Section 210 to Section 209.
