S. 4381 — Western Tribal Water Act of 2026

This section states congressional findings that (1) Indian Tribes in the Upper Colorado River Basin face water supply reliability challenges, including over $100 million in water infrastructure needs; (2) the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe requires a $50 million project to repair aging drinking water delivery infrastructure in southwestern Colorado; and (3) the Indian Reservation Drinking Water Program, established under section 2001 of the America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018, assists tribes in other drought-stricken western basins with drinking water and related services.

This section amends the Indian Reservation Drinking Water Program—under which the Environmental Protection Agency provides grants to Indian tribes for drinking water and wastewater infrastructure—by (1) adding to the list of designated eligible projects 10 projects within the Upper Colorado River Basin; and (2) authorizing $60 million for each of FY2027 and FY2028.
