“A bill to provide for certain conveyances under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, and for other purposes.”
No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section directs the Secretary of the Interior to convey to Doyon, Limited, an Alaska Native Regional Corporation, all right, title, and interest in approximately 21,578 acres of federal land in the preserve area of Denali National Park and Preserve—selected by the corporation on September 18, 1978, under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA)—as soon as practicable but not later than one year after enactment, subject to valid existing rights and excluding specified lots and lakes. The section reserves public easements required under ANCSA section 17(b); prohibits Doyon from alienating or transferring the land except to the United States, authorizing mining or mineral activities, or permitting development that would derogate the cultural value of the Geese House site; and treats the conveyance as one under ANCSA section 14(h)(8), which authorizes transfers of land with historic or cultural significance to Alaska Native corporations. (Thus, the land is removed from federal ownership and park management.) The section further requires the Secretary to adjust the Denali National Park and Preserve boundary to exclude the conveyed land and, to the extent practicable, align it with the proposed boundary depicted on the map entitled “Geese House Site Conveyance Act” and dated April 14, 2026.
This section exempts the land conveyance authorized under section 2(a) from requirements of 43 CFR part 2650 (or successor regulations) and from any past or existing withdrawals applicable to the federal land. It also authorizes the Secretary of the Interior, with written approval from Doyon, Limited, to make minor corrections to the survey and legal description of the federal land specified in section 2(b) for clerical, typographical, or surveying errors.
