S. 486 — Mandatory Removal Proceedings Act

This section requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to immediately initiate removal proceedings under INA §236A (mandatory detention for aliens inadmissible or deportable on security grounds) against any alien whose visa is revoked due to a ground under INA §237(a)(4) (i.e., security and related grounds such as terrorist activities or threats to U.S. foreign policy). It also revises INA §221(i) by (1) specifying that revocation occurs in the discretion of the Secretary, (2) replacing "Attorney General" with "Secretary of Homeland Security," and (3) restructuring the provision into numbered paragraphs.
