S. 599 — DRIVE Act of 2025

This section revises VA beneficiary travel reimbursements (38 U.S.C. 111)—which pay actual necessary travel expenses (including mileage, lodging, and subsistence) or mileage allowances for eligible veterans and others traveling to or from VA facilities for vocational rehabilitation, counseling, examinations, treatment, or care—as follows: (1) sets the mileage rate equal to or greater than the General Services Administration reimbursement rate for federal employees using privately owned vehicles on official business (from 41.5 cents per mile); and (2) requires payment of any mileage allowance not later than 90 days after proper submission of a request.
