This section directs the Secretary of the Treasury to mint and issue $1 legal tender coins—treated as numismatic items—honoring each deceased U.S. President not previously honored under this or subsection (n) of 31 U.S.C. 5112, with obverse designs emblematic of the President and reverse designs meeting existing requirements, to be first issued within three years of the President's death while continuing coins under subsections (r) and (w); and, during the same period, to issue bullion coins—treated as numismatic items—with specifications matching subsection (o) coins (i.e., American Eagle bullion coins) honoring each spouse of such a President who served during any term (or none required if no spouse). The Secretary may mint such coins in uncirculated and proof qualities in quantities deemed appropriate and strike and sell bronze medals emulating the spouse bullion coins.
