S. 717 — Increasing Access to Quality Cardiac Rehabilitation Care Act of 2025

This section expands Medicare coverage of cardiac rehabilitation programs by (1) authorizing services in "the office setting" rather than solely "a physician’s office," and (2) permitting physician assistants, nurse practitioners, or clinical nurse specialists (as defined in SSA §1861(aa)(5)), in addition to physicians, to prescribe exercise and provide supervision. It makes parallel changes to pulmonary rehabilitation programs by authorizing the same non-physician practitioners to prescribe exercise and provide supervision. The amendments apply to items and services furnished on or after the date that is six months after enactment.
