S. 794 — A bill to require the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information to audit Federal spectrum.

This section directs the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information, within 18 months of enactment and in consultation with federal entity heads, to conduct an audit of electromagnetic spectrum assigned or allocated to federal entities and submit an unclassified report (with possible classified annex) to Congress detailing, for each such band of spectrum: (1) bands used by the entity; (2) purposes and amount used for each; (3) geographic areas of assignment or allocation; (4) exclusivity or sharing status; and (5) unused portions. The audit must coordinate with the Department of Transportation's spectrum audit under section 27003 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (Public Law 117-58) to avoid duplication.
