S. 827 — Supporting Rural Veterans Access to Healthcare Services Act

This section revises and extends the Department of Veterans Affairs grant program to provide transportation for veterans in communities off the road system (e.g., remote Alaskan villages) to medical facilities. Specifically, it (1) expands grant eligibility to tribal organizations (as defined in 25 U.S.C. 5304) and Native Hawaiian organizations (as defined in 20 U.S.C. 7517); (2) sets the maximum grant amount at $50,000, with an increase of up to 50% (to $75,000) for counties with more than five off-road communities; and (3) authorizes such sums as may be necessary for FY2025 through 2029 (from $3 million for each of FY2010 through 2022).
