This section expresses the sense of the Senate that paraprofessionals and education support staff should receive livable wages, affordable healthcare at de minimis personal cost, eligibility under the Family and Medical Leave Act, 16 weeks of paid family and medical leave, paid leave for school closures, professional development opportunities, adequate resources and supplies including technology and personal protective equipment, representation in policymaking, input on new technologies, participation in student-related meetings as permitted by law, safe working environments with appropriate staffing, adequate employment notice, automatic contract renewal with just-cause termination, and retaliation protections for reporting workplace issues. The section further states that employers should engage in good faith collective bargaining, reach timely and fair contracts, and refrain from replacing striking workers or locking them out; and that nothing in this resolution supersedes more beneficial collective bargaining agreements.
