This section states the sense of the Senate regarding mental health by (1) supporting the designation of May 2025 as Mental Health Awareness Month to remove the stigma associated with mental illness and emphasize scientific findings on mental health recovery; (2) declaring mental health a national priority; (3) supporting increased access to mental health services; (4) recognizing that mental well-being is as important as physical well-being for U.S. citizens, communities, schools, businesses, and economy; (5) applauding national, state, local, medical, and faith-based organizations for promoting public awareness of mental health and providing information and support to individuals and families affected by mental illness; and (6) encouraging individuals to use Mental Health Awareness Month to promote mental well-being and awareness, ensure access to appropriate coverage and services, and support quality of life for those living with mental illness.
