S.Res. 287 — A resolution reaffirming the importance of the United States promoting the safety, health, and well-being of refugees and displaced persons in the United States and around the world.

This section expresses the sense of the Senate regarding U.S. refugee and asylum policies. Specifically, it (1) recognizes the urgency of comprehensive policies to address forced migration and refugee challenges; (2) reaffirms bipartisan U.S. commitments to the safety, health, and well-being of refugees and asylum seekers, including restoration of asylum protections under the Refugee Act of 1980; (3) recognizes contributions of individuals and organizations such as UNHCR in providing assistance to displaced persons; (4) reaffirms the importance of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program to national security and international solidarity; (5) calls on President Trump to lift the indefinite suspension of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and restore resettlement; and (6) calls on specified officials to uphold U.S. leadership in humanitarian responses, support UNHCR and host countries, meet refugee admissions goals, implement Global Refugee Forum pledges, address barriers for refugees with disabilities, and reaffirm World Refugee Day goals.
