S.Res. 290 — A resolution commemorating June 19, 2025, as "Juneteenth National Independence Day" in recognition of June 19, 1865, the date on which news of the end of slavery reached the slaves in the Southwestern States.

This section directs the Senate to (1) commemorate June 19, 2025, as "Juneteenth National Independence Day"; (2) recognize its historical significance to the United States; (3) support its continued nationwide celebration to provide an opportunity for the people of the United States to learn more about the past and better understand the experiences that have shaped the country; and (4) recognize the observance of the end of slavery as part of U.S. history and heritage.
