S.Res. 310 — A resolution recognizing Tunisia's leadership in the Arab Spring and expressing support for upholding its democratic principles and norms.

This section expresses the sense of the Senate regarding Tunisia's democratic trajectory by (1) recognizing Tunisia as the symbolic birthplace of the Arab Spring movement and its notable democratic reforms; (2) commending the Tunisian people for their courage and post-Arab Spring democratic achievements; (3) expressing concern over reversals including erosion of judicial independence, political repression and arrests, and undemocratic consolidation of power; (4) urging the Tunisian government to release political prisoners, respect rights to peaceful assembly, expression, and press, and restore independence of electoral, judicial, and anti-corruption institutions; (5) supporting the Tunisian people's right to peacefully demonstrate; and (6) urging the Trump Administration to sanction Tunisian officials involved in repressing democratic activities.
