This section expresses the sense of the Senate that (1) it supports the rights, freedoms, and equal treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals in the United States and around the world; (2) LGBTQ rights are human rights protected by U.S. laws and international treaties and conventions; (3) it supports equal treatment of all individuals regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity; (4) it supports the United States as a beacon of hope for equal treatment worldwide, including for LGBTQ individuals; and (5) it encourages celebration of June as LGBTQ Pride Month to recognize discrimination endured by the LGBTQ community and to celebrate its contributions to U.S. history.
