S.Res. 338 — A resolution recognizing the importance of independent living and economic self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities made possible by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and calling for further action to strengthen and expand health care for individuals with disabilities to work and live in the community.

This section expresses the sense of the Senate that it (1) recognizes the importance of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 for independent living, equal opportunity, and economic self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities; (2) encourages celebration of ADA advancements in inclusion and equality; (3) pledges bipartisan efforts to address remaining barriers, including institutional segregation; (4) pledges to work with states to improve funding and access to home and community-based services, emphasizing employment; (5) opposes Medicaid cuts and barriers such as work-reporting requirements; and (6) calls on the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, and Transportation, the Federal Communications Commission, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to enhance employment, communications access, community living, housing, transit, and emergency preparedness for individuals with disabilities.
