S.Res. 379 — A resolution amending the Standing Rules of the Senate to authorize the Majority Leader to move to proceed to the en bloc consideration of certain nominations.

This section establishes in Senate Rule XXXI a procedure permitting the Majority Leader to move to proceed to en bloc consideration of up to 10 covered nominations reported by the same Senate committee and placed on the calendar. A covered nomination is to a position other than Level I of the Executive Schedule under 5 U.S.C. 5312 (i.e., 21 senior executive positions such as Cabinet secretaries, the Attorney General, and select agency directors including the Commissioner of Social Security and Director of National Intelligence), a judge of a U.S. court of appeals, or Chief Justice or Associate Justice of the Supreme Court; such motions and en bloc consideration proceed as for a single nomination.
