S.Res. 497 — A resolution permitting the collection of clothing, toys, food, and housewares during the holiday season for charitable purposes in Senate buildings.

This section authorizes Senators, Senate officers, and employees to collect nonmonetary donations of clothing, toys, food, and housewares from others within Senate buildings or secured Senate offices during the holiday season for charitable purposes serving persons in need or members of the Armed Forces and their families, notwithstanding other Senate rules or regulations (provided the purposes do not violate such rules or federal law). The section also authorizes such individuals to work with nonprofit organizations for delivery of the donations, with the authority expiring at the end of the first session of the 119th Congress.
