S.Res. 525 — A resolution condemning the Government of Iran's state-sponsored persecution of the Baha'i minority and its continued violation of the International Covenants on Human Rights.

This section expresses the sense of the Senate condemning the Government of Iran's state-sponsored persecution of the Baha’i minority and violations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and calling on (1) Iran to release imprisoned Baha’is and others held solely for their religion, end hate propaganda against Baha’is, and reverse discriminatory policies denying Baha’is and other religious minorities equal access to higher education, livelihoods, due process, and religious practice; (2) the President and Secretary of State, with other nations, to condemn Iran's human rights violations and demand release of such prisoners; and (3) the President and Secretary of State to impose sanctions on Iranian officials and others responsible for human rights abuses against the Baha’i community.
