S.Res. 605 — A resolution denouncing statements by President Donald J. Trump that he may "nationalize," commandeer, or otherwise assume direct control over elections.

This section expresses the sense of the Senate that (1) the Constitution entrusts primary oversight and administration of federal elections to state and local authorities and Congress; (2) the President may not lawfully nationalize, commandeer, or assume direct control over elections; (3) any such presidential effort absent explicit constitutional or statutory grant is antithetical to the Constitution, unlawful, and without effect; (4) public advocacy of such power undermines federalism, the rule of law, and public trust in the democratic process; and (5) any such presidential action constitutes grounds for impeachment and removal under Article II of the Constitution.
